The opening hours are as follows:

Reading Room & Digital Library:

Digital Library can be access form Classroom, Faculty Rooms, Common Rooms, Hostel and Faculty Quarters anywhere within the Campus.

Library will be closed on all listed holidays of the Institute.

Private Photocopying & Scanning Facility: 10.00 a.m. to 05.00 p.m. (Monday to Saturday) on payment basis.

Membership Registration

Admission is normally restricted to the Institute community. However, external scholars and corporate houses may also be granted membership with prior permission of Director/Principal/Dean.

Book Collection:

The Library has generous collection of reference book, gift books, text books, case studies etc on various subject of management. The Library uses Dewey Decimal Classification (DDC) system to classify its book documents. Each subject is assigned a classification number [Example: Fundamentals of Software Engineering by Rajib Mal, the number is 005.1 MAL]. Books are arranged on the shelves in the ascending order of classification.

Display of New Books

A list of new books are displayed on the Notice Board in the entrance of the library and is also circulated via mail. A new book may be borrowed after it is ready for circulation.

Non-Book Collections Corporate Reports

This Section maintains the various Project Reports submitted by the Students. Users cannot borrow these and they can only consult them inside the library.

Journals, Magazine & Newspaper:

The Library has a good number of Journals & Magazine subscribed for its users which is separately displayed. The older volumes are also available and maintained. Journals, magazines & newspapers are strictly to be referred inside the Library. The following newspapers are available:

Borrowing:
  1. The Library materials, excepting Reference Book, Gift Books, Journals, Magazines and Newspaper are lent out to the borrowing members of different categories according to their entitlement.
  2. Individual can issue books as per their entitlement and should be returned on due date, failing of which a suitable penalty will be levied as decided by the competent authority.
  3. Books can be reserved for 2 days (including the day of request) only, request after that will not be entertained.
  4. For renewal, the reader has to bring the books to the Circulation Counter. If a borrowed book is not in demand, the reader may renew the book throughout the term. The Library has the right to recall a book if the same is required by another user. The books which are issued to other members may be reserved. On return the book will be kept in reserve for specific period under intimation to the claimant.
Other rules related for borrowing of books :
  1. When a book is not found in its place, enquiry is to be made at the Circulation Counter. Borrowers are liable for the damage and loss of books, if any. If the damaged book belongs to a set, the borrower will be responsible for the entire set.
  2. Borrower should check the physical condition of a book while borrowing the same.
  3. While going out of the Library, users should ensure that they carry only those books that are duly issued in their names, otherwise disciplinary action will be taken against them.
  4. Every user is requested to check the status of books outstanding against his / her name soon after a transaction at the counter. Discrepancy, if any, should be brought to the notice of the Counter person or the Librarian immediately. Any complaint thereafter is not likely to be entertained.
  5. When there is a demand for a borrowed book, the same must be returned immediately to the Library. The user, however, is permitted to keep the book with him/her for a maximum period of 7 days.
  6. Users are responsible for complying with the copyright Act while photocopying library documents.
Library Clearance:
  1. Library Clearance after each Term is mandatory for each student. Failing this the student will be penalised as per Library Rules.
  2. Faculty member will be required to return books and other materials issued to them after a particular Term.
  3. Visiting Faculty is required to get a Library Clearance at the end of their course.
  4. Students must submit a soft copy of all assignment, projects, reports etc given to them during the particular term. If any student fails to submit, he/she will not be issued Clearance Certificate.
Library Fines:

Students returning books after due dates will be fined as per the prevailing rates as mentioned below. The current rate of fines are as follows:

  1. General Category: Rs. 20/- per day’s delay.
  2. Overnight Category: Rs. 15/- per hour’s delay from 10 AM.

In case the student loses a book, the student should report the same immediately to the Librarian. The Librarian will then temporarily discontinue membership of the student till he/she obtain clearance from Accounts paying late fine and the cost of the book (s), as the case may be. The receipt has to be submitted to the Librarian after which his membership will be renewed. If the same issue is repeated more than once, the student will be temporarily disabled from active library facilities till further notification from the Director/Dean/Principal.

Digital Library:

The Library has subscribed to online databases for providing bibliographic information as well as full-text journals. The use of each online service is governed by copyright law and by the terms of the license agreement between the Institute and the publisher. The current facilities include:

A student can have access to the following facility:

  1. A student can search the content of the online service about books, periodicals and other e-materials.
  2. A student can download, save and print limited data or articles for academic use related to submission of assignment, project report and dissertation.

Note: Downloading unrestricted of papers from entire issues of a journal not permissible as it leads to violation of copyright law and a violation licenses with publishers. This should be strictly followed by user.

A student is prohibited to do the following:
  1. Commercial transactions using library systems.
  2. Downloading and changing systems configuration including setups, electronic journals or creation of derivative works.
  3. Any alteration, modification, or repackaging of the information contents in the database or electronic journal, including creating a searchable archive.
  4. Any distribution of the information contents of the online service, or material downloaded from the online service, in any form.
  5. Attempting to impersonate any person by using forged headers or other identifying information.
  6. Removing, modifying, or obscuring copyright notices or other notices and disclaimers.
  7. Facilitating use or access by non-authorized users, including sharing your password or other login information with anyone.
Reference Service

Requests for reference and referral services may be made at the Circulation Counter within Office Hours. Request after office hours without the permission of the Librarian will not be entertained.

Feedback/Suggestion Box

You are welcome to offer your suggestion about services, facilities and resources. The Library Committee encourages in suggestions for improving improved Library services further. Feedback Form is available in the Circulation Counter.

Appeal to the Users
  1. Every student member of the library carry the Library Identification Card while entering the library.
  2. Before entering the library any baggage, briefcases, hand-bags, umbrellas and similar items should be kept outside to Security and take token against the articles. This is applicable for all visitors and students.
  3. Do not hide, mishandle or upset the arrangement of books. Such practices create problems for other readers. It is not easy for the Library staff to trace misplaced books or journals.
  4. Please do not replace a book on shelves; we will do it for you. Remember, a misplaced book is equivalent to a lost one.
  5. Do not tear off pages from books or journals. Do not deprive other readers of a benefit you are keen on getting.
  6. Reading materials should not be taken out from the reading halls for Xeroxing, consultation or any other purpose without express permission.
  7. Consumption of beverage is strictly prohibited; even consumption of food is not allowed.
  8. Smoking inside the Library is strictly prohibited.
  9. Silence must be observed in the Library.
  10. The Library is your own property; help us to maintain it well.

The SWAYAM PRABHA is a group of 40 DTH channels devoted to telecasting of high-quality educational programmes on 24X7 basis using the GSAT-15 satellite. The Reserve Bank of India was established on April 1, 1935 in accordance with the provisions of the Reserve Bank of India Act, 1934. The Central Office of the Reserve Bank was initially established in Kolkata but was permanently moved to Mumbai in 1937. 3. Shodh Ganga: Indian Electronic Theses & Dissertations

Shodhganga provides a platform for research scholars to deposit their Ph.D. theses and make it available to the entire scholarly community in open access. The repository has the ability to capture, index, store, disseminate and preserve ETDs (Electronic Theses and Dissertations) submitted by the researchers. Theses and dissertations are known to be the rich and unique source of information, often the only source of research work that does not find its way into various publication channels. Theses and dissertations remain an un-tapped and under-utilized asset, leading to unnecessary duplication and repetition that, in effect, is the anti-theses of research and wastage of huge resources, both human and financial.

Full time Faculty Members can only borrow membership cards of The British Council Library/American from the CBS library. Please take note of following rules in this regard:

  • Total Membership Cards available: BCL-10; AL-5.
  • CBS Library will issue one card of BCL/AL to a faculty member on receiving written application request maintaining the purpose which will be approved by the competent authority.
  • Each card will be issued for a period of one month. Cards can be re-issued if there is no demand.
  • It will be the responsibility of faculty members to abide by the rules and regulations of BCL/AL
  • Before returning the cards to CBS Library, the borrower of such cards must settle all dues/compensations due to late return of/damage to, if any, the books/materials of those libraries.
  • CBS Library will not take any of paying or settling any dues of BCL/AL on behalf of the borrower.
  • CBS Library will not take any responsibility to bring books from or return books to BCL/AL.
  • In case of loss of cards a fine of Rs.1000/- will be charged.
