Internships provide an amazing platform for students to learn through practical experience. I had such an amazing experience while interning at CESC Ltd.

A company engaged in electricity generation, transmission and distribution in Kolkata and outside. It is an internship of 8 weeks and during this experiential learning, I am not only experiencing the task that I have been assigned in the HR domain but also adept the particulars of the business manoeuvre that a big and renowned company like CESC witnesses on a daily basis.

Far away from the four walls of the classroom, the internship experience at CESC is helping me to align and learn new things about my area of interest and develop new-fangled abilities. 

The initial days went very normal by studying the various functional operations that is take place within CESC that framed me to familiarise with different HR strategies and initiatives that the organisation undertakes over time.

I searched secondary sources as records and studying reports. In the due course, my task was assigned based on the basic domain knowledge I gained and at this juncture.

It is worthy to mention that credit goes to industry mentor and all esteemed colleagues at CESC for guiding, helping and supporting me always. Initially, I found myself in deep distress and became confused.

Being an amateur, dealing with real-life challenging scenarios was really unnerving at times but all constraints changed with their guidance, and cooperation within even in busy schedule.

It helped me to sort out doubts and motivated me to look forward.

A friendly atmosphere, enthusiastic colleagues, a calm and soothing environment and variety of books covering a wide range of topics of interest gave me the perfect learning environment to study, learn, develop and grow my knowledge, skills and exposure. 

Apart from the hectic schedule, attending office is really amazing and life at CESC had been quite enjoyable. As an intern I am touched by the endearing smiles from the colleagues, sharing charming moments at coffee table, knowledge sharing at the library and having evening snacks after work which I do believe though trifle things but acted as a stress relief initiatives and act as a team building intervention towards corporate culture. 

My experience at CESC had been amazing. Before I conclude, like to express my deepest sense of gratitude and thankfulness to the entire team of Calcutta Business School, my batch mates of PGDM (2022-2024) and all concerned for giving me the opportunity to intern at CESC Ltd. as a part of the summer internship programme. The memories of spending a valuable time at this prestigious corporate house like CESC will be cherished and appreciated forever.
